The MKII, a refined version of the original GT, was entered by Holman and Moody in the white, black, and green #95 GT40 MkII at the famous Daytona racetrack in Florida in 1966. This marked the first year that the Daytona race would be a 24-hour event, posing a significant challenge for both the car and the drivers. Despite the difficulty of the race, the #95 demonstrated enough speed, endurance, and durability to hold second place for much of the event. However, the Ford team directed the drivers, Mark Donohue and Walt Hansgen, to fall back and finish second in order to secure a record-breaking 1-2-3-5 sweep.
The Mega G+ Chassis is a standout feature of the MKII, set apart from the competition by its ability to go faster and handle better. This chassis maintains the ultra-low, narrow dimensions of the original Mega G, solidifying its position as the most realistic HO cars on earth. Not only is the Mega G+ Chassis smoother, more consistent, and more intuitive than any other car built by the company, but the Mega G+ Race System also adds to the appeal. Comprised of the Mega G+ Chassis, AFX120 Controllers, and Exclusive Tri-Power Pack, this race system offers the perfect balance of grip and speed. Its decades of slot car innovation make it the best out-of-the-box slot car system available for purchase.
